It was James Hamilton who in 1951 established a first classification of baldness based on the description of 7 evolutionary stages of alopecia, however, this scale would not be the definitive one because, in the future, it would evolve. Later, in 1975, O'Tar Norwood revised this classification and introduced some variations to arrive at a more definitive scale.
Like all cells in our body, hair is alive and has a natural growth cycle, i.e. hair has an evolutionary cycle and does not grow indefinitely. In a normal cycle, the hair follicle goes through 4 very distinct phases that alternate throughout the life of the hair follicle.
