Hair Life Cycle

Like all cells in our body, hair is alive and has a natural growth cycle, i.e. hair has an evolutionary cycle and does not grow indefinitely.

In a normal cycle the hair follicle goes through 4 very distinct phases that alternate throughout the life of the hair follicle

The 4 phases of the hair life cycle

The ANALOGUE PHASE is the phase during which hair grows and lasts about 3 years, being the longest phase of the hair cycle. Most of the hair on our head is in this phase.

After this time, the CATAGEN PHASE (transition phase) this is the transitional stage which lasts about 10 days. The hair follicle shrinks and detaches from the hair follicle.
the dermal papilla.

After that, the TELOGEN PHASE this is the resting phase which lasts about 3 months. 10-15% of the hairs are in this phase. While the old hair is resting, a new hair begins the growth phase.

And finally, there is the EXOGENOUS PHASE (new hair phase).

This is part of the resting phase in which old hair falls out and new hair continues to grow.

Now that you know the natural hair cycle we can conclude that you can be completely relaxed about your hair falling out, as it is having its own life cycle, approximately 50 to 150 hairs can fall out daily and this is considered normal hair loss. The problem comes when the hair starts to fall out and no longer generates growth, that is when it is important to start treating it.
