Hair prosthesis

Hair prosthesis

The hair prosthesis is a system that is formed by attaching hair fibers to a special base. The base is usually attached to the scalp. The purpose of these prostheses is to completely and undetectably cover the parts of the head that lack hair or even to cover the entire head when baldness is complete.

Considering the type of hair prosthesis, the base must be attached to the scalp through some type of special glue. Adhesive tapes and liquid or gel glue are used. The choice of one or the other depends a lot on the daily activities you want to perform while wearing the prosthesis. It is also possible to adapt the hair prosthesis to the head with clips or combs. In this case no glue is used and you still need to have some hair to attach the clips.

Those hair prostheses in which special adhesive is used can be worn for up to 20 days without interruption, depending also on the material of the base and if the glue is of high quality. After this time, it will be necessary to remove the prosthesis and clean both the piece and the scalp.

The problem with the prosthesis is that you must keep your hair the same length as the prosthesis, otherwise it will not look aesthetically pleasing.

The reality is that it is an investment that in the long run ends up being more costly than expected, since, unlike the hair transplantsIn order to maintain their condition, prostheses require regular maintenance. Over time the prosthesis also deteriorates and must be replaced by a new one.
